Jeff Kaplan is leaving Blizzard Entertainment after 19 years of service. The company announced his retirement through the Overwatch official website. On the same announcement, the team wrote “Aaron Keller, a Blizzard veteran and founding member of the Overwatch team, will be stepping in as game director”.

Prior to being announced as the game director, Aaron Keller was an assistant director at Blizzard Entertainment.
Keller previously worked on the development of “World of Warcraft” and “King’s Row map”. He also worked as the associate game director for Overwatch 2 until April 2021.
Why did Jeff Kaplan leave? The reason behind Kaplan’s retirement is unknown. Blizzard did not disclose the reason and neither did Kaplan himself in his statement that was released on the Overwatch website.
