Debra Frances is better known as Camryn Manheim is an American actress. She is well known for her role as attorney Ellenor Frutt in The Practice. In 1999, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work on The Practice (1997).
Camryn Manheim was born into a Jewish family, the daughter of schoolteachers Sylvia and Jerome Manheim. Her family moved many times in her early childhood because of her father taking new teaching positions. She also appeared as Sam Barton in the 2014 sci-fi television series Extant alongside Halle Berry and Hiroyuki Sanada.
When Camryn was in sixth grade, her family moved to Southern California, where she attended Woodrow Wilson Classical High School. After working at a Renaissance Faire during high school, she became interested in acting. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a BFA degree in 1984. In 1987, she earned an MFA degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program. Her brother, Karl Manheim, is a law educator at Loyola Law School.
Camryn Manheim also achieved the National Board of Review Award for best cast on the 1998 American black comedy-drama film Happiness. She is now performing as Debbie in the sixth and final season of This Is Us, which premiered on January 4, 2022.
