Clark Laidlaw moved to New Zealand in 2008 working within the Taranaki Academy for 2 years before taking up the position of Skills Coach with the New Zealand 7s team.

Clark returned to Taranaki in 2010 to become their Skills Coach before taking up his current role of Assistant Coach with the Hurricanes in 2013.
Clark’s sevens coaching experience includes being the Wellington Sevens program manager (2014-2015), All Blacks Sevens skills coach and video analyst (2010-12), and Taranaki sevens coach and program manager (2009 – 2012).
Clark led the New Zealand sevens team to victory at the 2018 World Cup in San Francisco, CA, United States of America.
Clark coached the New Zealand sevens team to gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia.

In 2018 Clark was named New Zealand Coach of the Year at New Zealand Rugby’s Annual Awards.
