Hightown, the alluring crime drama left fans wanting more when its first season concluded. The Starz series immediately hit off with fans and it had the crown raving for another season. 

Even though the series first aired on May 17, 2020, fans have already become fanatics as they are desperate for more of their new favorite show, a stone etched story, and a stellar cast to push the plot forward, read more about the show. 

Will There Be A Season 2 Or Is The Show Cancelled? 

Fortunately, yes, the original network Starz has already renewed the show for a second season. 

As a matter of fact, the show got the green light for the second season when the 4th episode of the first season aired. Why? because the show averaged more than 0.224 million viewers each episode. 

The first season was praised not only by fans and critics but also by the president of programming at Starz network, who called the show a hallmark of their network due to its extremely well-executed process. 

Will The Main Cast Be On Season 2? 

While things are yet to be decided, we can guess that much of the main cast will be returning for the second season of the show. 

The lead Jackie Quińones is played by the incredible Monica Raymund. She has worked as an actress since 2004 and is known for her work on shows like The Good Wife, Chicago P.D., etc. 

She brings the trademark sternness with an emotional core that so many rough leads on crime dramas have but she gives it new life with her own flair. Her character is plagued by alcohol and drug abuse. 

Renee Segna is the exotic dancer of the drug kingpin portrayed by Riley Voelkel central to the series world’s drug trade. Riley has done some acclaimed work on series like Legacies, the Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals

Shane Harper is on the show as Junior, a low-level drug dealer who is close to the lead character. he is a singer, actor, and musician. The 27-year-old is best-known as Spencer on the Disney sitcom Good Luck Charlie. 

Amaury Nolasco Garrido, the Prison Break actor plays the drug kingpin on the show and is one of the central characters on the show. Aside from Prison Break and Hightown, he is also popular for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, ER, etc. 

Ratings And Review

The second season has not even started filming as of July 2020 so there is a fair bit to wait before the critics give their remarks on the second installment to the show. 

The first season, however, has been highly rated by the critics. It has 80% on Tomatometer but has a low audience rating of 45%. Among the things praised on the show, the lead actress’s performance has also been highly rated. 

IMDb has rated the show a mediocre 6/10, according to their website while there are many positives, some plot points are just too shabby especially for a 2020 show.  

LGBTQ Resemblance On The Show

The lead character on the show is a lesbian and has a lot of charisma. Due to this, and the setting of the show. The show is placed in what some have described as ‘gay mecca’. 

Raymund, who plays the lead, also has tons of charisma and is easy to relate to which makes her an iconic lead. 

Even in the reviews, she has been singled out for her great performances that brings justice to the LGBTQ community and doesn’t give ion to the traditional portrayal of the community on-screen.
