WhoHurtYou’s Wish We Never Met: A Breakup Song
Although the song has been used for comic effect, it is originally a breakup song. The lyrics are sad and explain how the singer feels after a girl he used to date dumped him and left him emotionally scarred.
It was a rare turn for the singer Jack, according to the website NME, band members Jack Barakat and Kevin Fisher created the song.
Jack wrote the song lyrics following a breakup that was especially hard, in fact, he had to go to therapy following the incident.
Formerly of the punk band All Time Low, Jack was usually the funny one in the group but turned his dark moments into song with the help of his friend Kevin Fisher, whom he met during a songwriting session for All Time Low in 2016-17.

Lyrics Breakdown: What Do They Mean?
As mentioned above, the song is Jack’s effort to express his tragedy and feelings of insanity following a breakup that landed him in therapy.
The first line of the starts off with his experience in the nights when he gets lonely and tries to find solace in strangers in his bed. He then says that all the strangers remind him of the on he’s lost.
The lyrics continue with the melancholy theme as he says, he goes through her photos hoping that she’s lonely too.
Next is a line reminiscent of the Jim Carrey film Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, that goes “If I could go back and erase you from my mind, I’d do it in a second”.
The chorus of the song focuses on the title and says something perhaps all of us have felt at some point in our lives, the singer wishes he never met the on he’s singing about.
The last two verses of the song are just him repeating the lines telling how much he wants to stop missing her and how much he wishes that he never met her.
He also addresses that the relationship and the subsequent breakup left him scarred both emotionally and metally.
