As a matter of fact, Javier earned 4,744 votes. His competitor Veronica was a little behind him with 4,539 votes. Actually, Villalobos received 51.11 percent of the total votes in the election.
Interestingly, Villalobos and Whitacre faced each other after earning the most votes in May at the initial election.
Villalobos will succeed Jim Darling as the mayor of the city. Jim had been in the position since 2013. He did not show any intention to be reelected as mayor.
Javier will serve for four years as a mayor. He says he is very excited to receive the responsibility.
