Mission Mangal is a 2019 Hindi film starred by Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharman Joshi, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen, Dalip Tahil, Sanjay Kapoor, H. G. Dattatreya and many others. Written and directed by debutant director Jagan Shakti, who is a former assistant of director AR Murugadoss. Mission Mangal is jointly produced under the banners – Cape of Good Films, Hope Productions, and Fox Star Studios. The film is released on 15 August 2019.
What is it about?
One of the glorious chapters in their success story was the 2014 Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), more popularly called the Mangalyaan Mission. Against all the odds, India became the first country in the world to break many space and Earth barriers and reach the distant planet in its first attempt. ‘Mission Mangal’ is a film that dramatises and recreates this glorious chapter in Indian history.
What works?
The film will keep you engaged throughout the movie despite knowing the climax as we know it before. Director Jagan Shakti, along with writers R. Balki, Nidhi Singh Dharma, and Saketh Kondiparthi has delivered the entire launch brilliantly. Simple home science concepts will make you understand the basic theory of Mangalyaan Mission. This movie might motivate the younger generation to become a scientist and do something for the country.
What doesn’t works?
Makers have duped some conversations into bringing patriotism among the audiences. Unnecessarily comparing ISRO mission with world cup cricket match and sometimes with other countries. There is a fight scene inside the metro train, which seemed to be a little unnecessary at a point.

Try not to miss this movie. Worth watching!
