The Song Is Rapper Pop Smoke’s Posthumous Effort
Smoke aka Bashar Barakah Jackson was bringing the Brooklyn drill rap movement to the mainstream hip-hop music but he was tragically shot and killed in 2020. He released his second mixtape, Meet the Woo 2, came out on February 7, less than two weeks before his death.
Later on, the police arrested five suspects in connection with his death. According to the New York Times, four suspects shot the rapper inside his Hollywood Hills home.
He was taken to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Prior to his death, he posted his huge stacks of money and jewelry on his social media profile. This made police believe that the murder was originally a robbery gone wrong.
In one of his posts, his home address could be seen in the background. As of August, police are yet to release conclusive information.
