Shane Lee Yaw is better known as Shane Dawson, is a famous American YouTuber. He became one of the first people to rise to prominence on the video-sharing platform on YouTube. At age 19, he began making videos on YouTube and collected over half a billion views by 2010 in 2008. Most of his past work comprised sketch comedy videos, where he would play original characters, imitate celebrities, and make light of popular culture.

He published two New York Times best-selling books; I Hate Myselfie in 2015 and It Gets Worse in 2016. His three YouTube channels have gained over 4.5 billion views. Since 2017, he maintains one active channel, Shane, with 20 million subscribers and over 4 billion views.

Career

Shane Dawson also had a short-lived music career, and he released six original songs, including Superluv! and many parodies of popular music videos. He premiered his podcast, Shane and Friends, which ran for four years and produced over 100 episodes in 2013. The following year, he released his first and only feature film, Not Cool, in 2014 and appeared on an accompanying 10 episode television documentaries series The Chair.

In 2012, he appeared in films including Smiley and Internet Famous (2016). Later in 2015, Dawson began his show on his YouTube channel about conspiracy theories, which include his 2019 web series Conspiracy Series with Shane Dawson. He released his first documentary series on YouTube in late 2017, in which he reunited with his absent father.

Shane Dawson created and appeared in The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star (web series, 2019-20) a documentary series that follows the life of Jeffree Star, which picked up over 130 million views. His most viewed documentary series is about Jake Paul, Jeffree Star, and TanaCon.
