Despite her father’s several run-ins with the law in later years, and eventual incarceration for a robbery, she tried her best to avoid media attention and never publicly commented about her mother’s death or her father’s trial.

She Is the Daughter of O.J Simpson and Nicole Brown

Sydney Brooke Simpson was born on October 17, 1985, in California, United States, to Orenthal James Simpson and Nicole Brown. Her father is a former football running back who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame. Her mother, who was born in Frankfurt, West Germany, to a German mother and an American father, was raised in America and worked as a waitress at a private club called ‘The Daisy’, where her parents first met. She is the older of her parents’ two children and has a brother named Justin Ryan Simpson (b. 1988).

Her Father Was Previously Married

When Sydney Brooke Simpson’s parents first met in 1977, Simpson was married to his childhood sweetheart and first wife Marguerite L. Whitley. They had three children together: daughters Arnelle L. Simpson (b. December 4, 1968) and Aaren Lashone Simpson (b. September 24, 1977), and son Jason Lamar Simpson (b. April 21, 1970). Simpson began dating 18-year-old Brown while he was still married to Whitley, whom he divorced in March 1979. Her Father Was Accused of Murdering Her Mother

Sydney Brooke Simpson’s mother, Nicole Brown, and her friend, restaurant waiter Ron Goldman, were brutally stabbed to death on the evening of June 12, 1994, outside of her home at South Bundy Drive in Brentwood, Los Angeles, California. Furthermore, her father O.J Simpson was the prime accused in both murders. Simpson had a past history of physical abuse and domestic violence, and continued to stalk and threaten Brown even after they divorced. Following a prolonged trial, which gained publicity internationally and became recognized as the ‘Trial of the Century’, Simpson was acquitted of all charges in a live verdict from the courtrooms watched by over 100 million people. However, he was subsequently found guilty of both murders in a civil trial.

She Was Raised by Her Father and Paternal Aunt

After Sydney’s father was acquitted, he was also granted full custody of Sydney and her brother Justin despite several attempts by their maternal grandparents to fight for their custody. Initially, Simpson’s sister Shirley Baker and her husband Benny attempted to bring normalcy back into the lives of the young children by being “there to send the kids to school in the morning, with a meal and a smile”. Despite going through the tragic loss of her mother and the subsequent media attention, Sydney traversed through her teenage years well enough. She attended Gulliver Academy and later earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Boston University of Arts and Science in 2010. Her maternal aunt Tanya Brown later expressed happiness noticing how grounded she and her brother were.

She Assumed Different Identities to Avoid Paparazzi

As a youth, Sydney Brooke Simpson assumed different identities at different times to avoid the unwanted attention that constantly chases family members of the infamous O.J Simpson. Her aunt Shirley, who once ran a catering business, stated that people often cancelled reservations after learning that she was OJ’s sister. It is perhaps no wonder that Sydney introduced herself as Portia while working as a waitress at a restaurant in Georgia where her step-brother Jason also worked as a cook. Moreover, she had to change jobs frequently as people would eventually track her down despite extreme cautiousness. Among others, she has worked as an events’ coordinator in Atlanta, a caterer in St. Petersburg, Florida, and eventually opened her own real-estate business, Simpsy Properties, LLC, with her brother Justin. She currently owns three properties apart from a restaurant.

She Was Linked with Robert Blackmon

Despite her desperate attempts, Sydney was recently brought into media attention in 2017 when she was linked with City Council candidate Robert Blackmon from St. Petersburg, Florida. After a report by ‘New York Times’ claimed that the duo were dating and expressed concern over Blackmon’s political future citing links with the Simpson family, he publicly denied the claim and stated that they were merely good friends. Blackmon, who is also a friend of Sydney’s brother Justin, lost the election later that year. As per reports, she previously dated Stuart Alexander Lee from 2007 to 2012.
