Tasha Smith is a talented American actress, director, and producer. She grew up with a single mother and has an identical twin sister named Sidra Smith who currently lives in Harlem. Smith dropped out of Camden High School in her freshman year and moved to California at age 19.
Career
She began her acting career in a starring role in the comedy series Boston Common (TV series,1996–97). She later appeared in many movies, including The Whole Ten Yards (2004), Daddy’s Little Girls (2007), The Longshots (2008), Couples Retreat (2009), and television series.
Her other 1990s film credits include Twin Sitters (1994), Let It Be Me (1995), Max Q (1998), and Chameleon II: Death Match (1999). In the 2000s, she appeared in Playas Ball (2003) where she played Vonda Watson. She played Jules “Julie” Figueroa in the crime comedy film The Whole Ten Yards in 2004.
She starred as Angela Williams in the film Why Did I Get Married? (2007), its sequence Why Did I Get Married Too? (2010) which Tyler Perry directed. On the television series based on the movies, For Better or Worse (2011–2017) as Angela Williams. She began a recurring role as Carol Holloway on the Fox musical drama series Empire from 2015 to 2020. Later, in 2020, Smith made her directorial debut.
Smith made her acting debut with a minor role in the comedy film Twin Sitters (1994). From 1996 to 1997, she starred in the comedy series, Boston Common. Later in 1997, she joined the cast alongside Tom Arnold in another short-lived comedy series, The Tom Show.
Smith co-starred alongside Ice Cube and Keke Palmer in the family comedy-drama film The Longshots (2008). She had a supporting role in the romantic comedy film Couples Retreat (2009). She co-starred in Pastor Brown (2010) alongside Salli Richardson, Nicole Ari Parker, and Michael B. Jordan.
In 2011, she appeared in the comedy-drama film Jumping the Broom, and in 2014, she played a psychotherapist in the erotic thriller, Addicted.
