United We Fall ABC Cast, Release Date, Review and Plot Explained

ABC’s United We Fall is a family-friendly TV sitcom airing on the channel from mid-July 2020. The show has a stellar cast, the main characters are experienced actors. 

Similarly, the comedy series also has a great writing and production team. This new sitcom was set to come out in spring 2020 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the series release was delayed.  

United We Fall (TV Show) Cast

The cast of the show was announced more than a year before its release. ABC brought in Jane Curtin, who is also known as the “Queen of the Deadpan”. 

Curtin has numerous hit TV shows and films to her name along with a huge number of accolades, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award for her work on Kate & Allie (1984-89).

Later on, she did another iconic role on 3rd Rock from the Sun. She won a Satellite Award for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy.

Guillermo Díaz was a late addition to the main cast, he plays the role of Chuy. The star has worked in numerous short films in addition to his TV roles and films. 

Diaz has worked on comedy films like Half Baked. Some of his most memorable roles include the role of a drag queen named La Miranda in Stonewall. 

Another one of the veteran actors on the show is Will Sasso. He is also a revered comedian best-known for his work on The Three Stooges reboot. 

Some of his famous works on TV in the past are MADtv, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Guy, etc. among others. He plays the leading man on the show. 

Another member of the main cast is Christina Vidal, she is an experienced actress who has credits like Welcome to the Dollhouse, I Think I Love My Wife, etc. 

Vidal won the Young Artist Award in 1994 bit has since faded into the off-screen. 

A talent to watch on the show is Jason Michael Snow, who is known for Russian Broadway Shut Down and The 2017 CBS Diversity Sketch Comedy Showcase.

Some other members of the cast include Ireland Carvajal, Sedona Carvajal, Allyson Juliette, Sophia Robertson, among others

Release Date

The show is set to release two episodes back to back on July 15, 2020, after its initial March 2020 release date had to be postponed due to the pandemic. 

Plot

The premise of the show revolves around a family whose life turns upside down after they let their judgmental and conservative grandmother move in.

Similarly, the main couple Jo and Bill have to struggle with judgemental people all the time. Slowly the plot moves to show how the couple handles their kids in the chaos of their household. 

According to a TV Insider review, the first episode shows how chaotic it can be trying to raise kids especially when there is a judgemental parent living in the same home. 

From Script To Screen 

The studio greenlit the pilot on February 8, 2019, Julius Sharpe, wrote the pilot which had to wait before it could be released.

Sharpe also wrote “The Weekend”, other writers on the show include Sean Clements, Julieanne Smolinski, Jessica Combs, Stephanie Escajeda & Carissa Kosta.

Ratings And Review

While the show is yet to release its first season, it has already gotten some rave reviews from some critics. 

Many critics from various outlets have called the show relatable and funny. The show also presents a very realistic look into the family life of many couples all over the world. 

The comedy is also simple and innocent but funny, like a classic sitcom.
