Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy Release Date, Plot, and Cast Explained

Good news for Transformers fans as the series 2018 web series is coming to Netflix. Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy is a series of arcs in the transformers universe that takes place in the Autobots and Decepticons universe. 

Continuing with the theme of gripping content the show pits Optimus Prime against his own beliefs. The fate of Cybertron is at stake and the Autobots must sacrifice something in order to save the world.

Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy Release Date

The new and exciting anime series will be released on Netflix on July 30, 2020. Its predecessor was released in 2018 by Hasbro. 

It was originally set to be released in June 2020 but was postponed because of the Coronavirus pandemic. 

Cast 

The series has a stellar voice cast filled with some iconic actors. The classic Optimus Prime, who is the leader of all the Autobots is played by Jake Foushee.

Edward J. Bosco plays Ultra Magnus and Soundwave. Magnus he is the right-hand man to Optimus Prime and one of his most loyal lieutenants. 

On the other hand, the same voice actor also voices Soundwave a Decepticon and the ultimate lieutenant to Megatron. In some iterations of the works, he is the Decepticon leader’s eyes and ears in the outside world. 

Bosco has voiced Kan-Ra and Gargos in KI, Warwolf in Marvel’s Hulk: Where Monsters Dwell, Ed in SFV, and Ahrah from Dust: AET among others. 

Shockwave and Red Alert are voiced by Todd Michael Haberkorn, one of the most experienced members of the cast who has worked in some of the biggest projects in the world. He has 

His works include Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Dragon Ball Z Kai, Sword Art Online, One Piece among others.

Jetfire is played by Keith Silverstein whose catalog of work spans from Doraemon, Hunter × Hunter 2011, Naruto Shippuden, Sword Art Online, Your Lie in April, etc.

Keith started his work as a voice actor in 2000. From then on he has become a fixture in many blockbusters. 

Some other cast members of the show include Linsay Rousseau, Frank Todaro, Mark Whitten, etc. 

Plot

Autobots and Decepticons are the major players in the new series. A Civil War takes place between the two factions and the war is taking their home planet, Cybertron to the brink.

Unlike Earth, Cybertron is a planet almost fully of metal and skyscrapers. The war has destroyed the planet, ditching the classic hero-villain plot, the series is taking the story to a new level by forcing the two leaders of the factions to fight each other as they try and unite their people. 

Each has a separate agenda but the Autobots must also consider the prospect of entirely destroying the Cybertron in order to save it. Megatron tries to use the Allspark, it is the source of everything on their planet including their lives. 

Using it would mean the effective extinction of all life there, so the Autobots who do not have the Allspark must counter Megatron and the Decepticons each move as they try to rescue their home.

It is a desperate struggle for the Autobots who are outnumbered and less powerful than the Decepticons. 

Ratings And Review 

The series was hugely anticipated and has become a fan favorite. Critics have also praised the show for its stellar story and animation style. 

instead of the robots fighting for humanity, it is fresh to see them fight for their own home. They do however maintain the classic Transformers vibe. With an experienced and proven cast that brings the characters more substance, the series has become hugely popular even among hardcore fans.
