Wayfair TikTok Scandal Explained

The Wayfair scandal or the child trafficking conspiracy theory related to the Wayfair company has taken the social media by a roar.

It all started from a post of 10th July 2020 by a Reddit user when he posts photos of ridiculously overpriced Wayfair products which are exactly similar to the products having a reasonable price but the only difference in the overpriced products was that they were labeled by the names of missing children in America.

This story became viral from Reddit and many users also researched it and posted different conspiracy theories indicating that Wayfair might be selling the children.

Is it possible Wayfair involved in Human trafficking with their WFX Utility collection? Or are these just extremely overpriced cabinets? (Note the names of the cabinets) this makes me sick to my stomach if it’s true 🙁 from r/conspiracy

The stories and theories reached to the twitter and TikTok platforms also. It is now very trending in the For You page of TikTok.

It is all just a far-fetched theory without any valid evidence to support it.

But on the other hand, it is also not exactly normal to have such coincident with the names of missing children in the overpriced product.

I mean who buys a shower curtain named as some missing girl with the price of more than 10 Grands. Maybe that is the reason why people are so worked up about it and are actually believing the conspiracy theories.

According to the CEO of Wayfair, it is just a glitch that has caused the overpricing of similar products and they are looking into it.

They also mentioned that some of the industrially made brand products tend to become high priced even though they look similar. With that being said, they also removed the overpriced products from their sites temporarily. Now the social media users are saying that with the removal of the products the suspicion has grown even more.

The images that are shared on the TikTok, Twitter, and Reddit are real and the pricing is not justified. But this does not mean that people should falsely allege the Wayfair company for child trafficking with just those pictures. The police and investigation team should look into it for hard evidence and find out the real culprit.
