Mariette Detotto was a former dancer and performer who came into the spotlight after becoming associated with the Walter Mercado. She allegedly started a relationship with Mercado when he came to Brazil. 

He offered her a job and even predicted that she would be a successful TV presenter if she moved to a new country, this later turned out to e true as she went to Miami when Walter himself gave her a job. 

How Did Mariette And Walter Start Their Relationship?

During one of his trips to Brazil, the astrologer met Mariette. At the time, she had just been divorced and according to various outlets started getting close to Walter.

Then, the pair started making appearances everywhere, as a matter of fact, she accompanied the TV astrologer in many of his international tours.

Were Detotto And Walter Ever Married? 

The dancer and astrologer had been speculated as a couple for many years, but, they had not confirmed their relationship. In fact, Walter who was an LGBTQ icon denied their relationship multiple times. 

The late astrologers only commented on their relationship in 2004, telling media outlets that they had a pure connection. he also went on to say that he could one day marry her.

In the same interview in 2004, he told the media that he viewed marriage as a celestial connection and more serious than a signed paper. 

He denied his relationship with the dancer for most of the early 2000s and 1990s.

The performer has remained out of the spotlight ever since the death of the astrologer. Ever since the early 2010s, she has been laying low and out of the limelight. 

Her social media profiles have also been quiet, she has also been dividing her time between Miami and Brazil. The last time she posted on social media was on her 50th birthday on October 26, 2013. 

Detotto’s Former Partner Walter Defined Himself As Androgynous

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the astrologer’s sexuality had always been speculated. he then defined himself as androgynous. He said he had both male and female qualities.

Similarly, he said that he shared a spiritual connection and kissed Mariette because he thought the mouth is the entrance to a woman’s soul. 

The LGBTQ community also revered him as an icon even though he rarely spoke about his sexual orientation. The community said that he redefined sexuality and did not live within the conventional boundaries of sexual orientation. 

Due to his ambiguous sexuality, he and Detotto’s relationship had been speculated for over a decade.  

Walter Mercado Passed Away In 2019 

The astrologer passed away on 2 November 2019 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, USA. He is buried at Señorial Memorial Park, Cupey, San Juan, Puerto Rico, USA. The official cause of his death was kidney failure. 

Mercado had heart problems all throughout his late-life, he was once taken to Cleveland Clinic due to severe cardiac arrest in 2012, his statement after the incident read that he died and met God before coming back to earth again.  

He had an elaborate funeral and all of the Puerto Rican TV community was saddened by his death.
