She was diagnosed with severe depression in 2009

After all the fame, Chantelle kind of disappeared from the public limelight. Her struggles started after she could not win at the third Olympics in Beijing in 2008.

Later we found out that she was battling chronic depression. She revealed to an Australian magazine that she was getting admitted to the psychiatric hospital in March 2009. She had also attempted suicide twice. She had also parted ways with her husband Robert Newbery.

She was charged with Drug and stealing charges

In 2014, Chantelle was arrested for being in possession of drugs named methamphetamines, paraphernalia, and utensils. She pled guilty to the charges was placed in a drug diversion program.

Later, in 2018, she was again arrested on the charge of six theft counts. This led to a three-month prison sentence for her. Her sentence was suspended and she was released on parole.

Her partner Tim Walsh died in 2019

The mother of two was in a relationship with Tim Walsh who was her best friend for five years. They only started dating for 18 months when she met his tragic loss. This must have been really tragic for her.
