Paula Bryant is the mother of 15-year-old Makiyah Bryant, who was recently shot by a white police officer in Ohio.
The Columbus Police released bodycam footage on Tuesday night at a news conference. The video showed a black girl carrying a knife, which appeared to be a kitchen knife or steak knife, and attempted to stab two people.

Paula spoke to the reporters after the incident and said Makiyah was an honor-roll student and a sweet kid. Paula rubbished the accusations put of her daughter that she was about to stab two girls.

Buzzfeed News reported that some of the people on the scene said Makiyah carried the knife to protect herself from two girls that were trying to scare her.
It is frustrating to see that the police open fired without knowing the situation she was in and laughed about it after the shooting as seen on the footage.

The state law allows police officers to use deadly force in defense to protect themselves or others in a critical situation. The case is still under investigation, as it is not clear if the officer is guilty or not.
