Amber Guyger is an Ex-cop of Dallas, Texas who was convicted for the murder of her neighbor, Botham Jean who lived in an apartment below her.
On September 6, 2018, the former police officer claims to have mistakenly thought that the apartment Botham owner was her own and that he was a burger and shot him fatally.
He was taken to the hospital but sadly it was to no avail. Outrage had been surging over the looking of an innocent black man and accusations of racial bias had arisen.
Was Amber Guyger arrested? Her sentence
Amber Guyger was arrested a few days later for the killing and had been charged with manslaughter later the charges were changed to murder.
The prosecutor claimed that the criminal intent for two reasons: one that she did not arrive at the wrong apartment due to tiredness and second, she hadn’t followed police protocol of calling for a backup during a burglary.
Amber Guyger was found guilty and sentenced to 10 years in prison, on October 1, 2019.
The jury had a long deliberation where they considered the charge to either be murder or manslaughter, which had lesser prison time.

After this case came to public, Amber Guyger and her family were accused of racism.
Pictures of her family doing signs were spread saying they were white supremacists.
Her sister, Alana Guyger, and her brother-in-law, Noe Garza denied the claims. Garza revealed the fact that he was Hispanic, a Mexican so he was not a white supremacist neither was his family.
Furthermore, after her sentence was announced, the Jean family and Botham’s brother, Brandt came forward to hug her and said he forgave her.
