Netflix is really outdoing itself in August 2020 and has a huge number of new releases planned for fall. A new film for dance lovers, Work It has also been released. 

The movie is the latest offering in the huge selection of offerings and with Alicia Keys as one of the producers, the flick has been praised by critics and audiences as a hit. 

It takes the classic premise of an upcoming dancer having to dance to achieve her dreams. However, there is a twist that will shock all audiences.

The film was released on August 7, 2020, on Netflix and is available all over the world to binge. The runtime of the new Alicia Keys is around 93 minutes.

Sabrina Carpenter

Carpenter is the lead character and is playing the quirky Quinn Ackerman. She is a 21-year-old actress with almost 10 years of experience in the acting industry. 

She has a lot of credits to her name even though she is a young actress. In fact, the star has also done some voice roles on the show. 

Liza Koshy

Koshy is also a young and upcoming actress, this film is her biggest role.

An interesting fact about the actress is that she first gained fame on Vine making funny videos before she eventually transitioned into an actress. She does, however, have some experience in film as she has acted on  Crow: The Legend,, Boo Amadea Holloween, Jingle Ballin’, etc. 

The 24-year-old has the role of Jasmine Hale on the flick. She will be a supporting character in the movie. 

Keiynan Lonsdale

Keiynan Lonsdale is one of the older actors on the show and is around 28 years old as of 2020. The Australian-Nigerian actor is also one of the most experienced cast members on the show. 

He is also a musician and has done roles in the past that have demanded skills as a dancer.  Perhaps, his best-known role is on ‘Love, Simon’ and he even won an award for the film which turned him into a heartthrob. 

He also received a lot of praise for acting on the film which was the film released by a major studio to focus on a teenage gay love story.

Michelle Buteau

Buteau is a comedian and podcast host that has become prominent in recent years due to her unique brand of humor. The New Jersey-based actor plays one of the characters who will judge the lead. 

Plot

The plot of the film kicks off when a young and fresh out of high school Quinn Ackerman must perform a dance to get into the college of her dreams. She must win a dance competition with a group of other dancers that she assembles rather quickly.

She gets a team but now she must overcome another obstacle, she must learn how to dance. The premise of the film sets the tone for some really hilarious jokes while also making it really entertaining.  

The film is a comedy and mainly focuses on the humor side of things and does really well balancing the plot with jokes. 

Ratings And Review

Work It has gathered a lot of nice reviews, Common Sense Media has rated 3/5. Critics and viewers are raving because of the humor of the show. Similarly, IMDb has rated the film 7/10.
