American Monster is a TV program that shows the true-crime files. It is broadcasted on the channel ‘Investigation Discovery’. This show helps us to realize that an American monster/ a dangerous criminal can be lurking around behind any innocent-looking smile, or on any streets.
Anyone can be a criminal and when that criminal hides behind a smiling face as our friendly neighbor or the kid who never breaks any rules, it makes it even more shocking and horrifying.
Tracie Miles American Monster – Sandra Miles Murder case
Tracie Miles and her boyfriend, Paul Nelson, conspired together for the murder of Tracie’s mother who did not approve of her boyfriend at that time.
According to Tracie’s friends, Sandra Miles forbade her daughter Tracie to meet her boyfriend, Paul. Because of this, she used to have a fight with her mother every time regarding her boyfriend. Sandra also forced her daughter to have an abortion of the Tracie and Nelson’s child by warning that if she refuses to abort the baby then she would kick her out and Tracie would have to raise her child on her own.
But in March 1998, Tracie had a fight with her mother on a different topic. This time Sandra took away the keys of Tracie’s Ford Mustang because of her rash driving records and multiple Tickets racked up.
Tracie murdered her mother so that she would not have to fight with her anymore and no one will interfere in her relationship with Paul. Tracie and Paul ran away together and were on the list of most wanted people but of course, they got arrested and Tracie admitted that he brutally strangled Sandra to death.
Where is Tracie Miles American Monster Now?
In 1999, Tracie was charged with the murder of her mother, Sandra Miles along with the charges of robbery and forgery. She was sentenced to life in prison for at least 25 years. She was just 17 years old at that time and had pled no contest against the charges held on her.
She was doing her prison time in New Mexico Women Correctional Facility in Grants now.
In 2013, she wanted to withdraw her no contest plea, by stating that she was underage and immature to know what it would mean to take that plea. She also mentioned that her lawyer convinced her to sign the plea by saying that it would be better than a death penalty.
But her appeal was denied by the Judge in 2014 and her 25 years prison punishment was set to uphold. There is now no chance for her to be released before that time. By the time she completes the punishment, she would be 43 years old when she will be eligible for parole which is in 2023.
Where is Tracie Miles Boyfriend Paul Nelson today?
Just like Tracie pleaded No Contest for the charges of murder, robbery, and forgery, Paul also did the same. And he also received the same punishment of 25 years in prison. Paul is being held at Ellsworth Correctional Facility in Kansas.
He has been moved from one prison to another a few times according to his prison records. Paul is also eligible for parole in 2023 and he is confident that he would get the parole as his time in prison has changed him to a better person and helped him to realize his crime.
He claims that he is fond of movies and music and ants positive people in his life after his release.
