On June 15, 2021, Litton won the top SBC role in an election held in Nashville. Likewise, he defeated Georgia pastor Mike Stone with 52% votes from over 15000 people.
Ed age is 62 years old. Similarly, he was nominated for the SBC president by pastor Fred Luter- the first and only black pastor of SBC.

Litton has not disclosed if he is a Calvinist.
He has been serving as the First Baptist North Mobile, aka Redemption Church, since 1994.
Similarly, he is also an active member of the Mobile coalition, which advocates ending the racial divide in the country.
Ed Litton’s wife is Kathy Ferguson.
He was previously married to Tammy for nearly 25 years. Sadly, Tammy passed away due to an automobile accident on August 16, 2007.
After taking his certain time, Litton later found comfort in Kathy. In fact, Ferguson had also lost her husband, Pastor Rick Ferguson, in an automobile accident.

Litton completed his bachelor’s education from Grand Canyon University in Religion & Theatre. Likewise, he pursued Masters of Divinity from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Yet, the pastor didn’t stop here. He eventually attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and obtained a degree in Doctor of Ministry.
Ed plans to increase diversity in Chirtsianity with more racial inclusion. Moreover, his campaign was based on two top priorities: unity and diversity.
