World’s Most Wanted: Plot Explained

The official synopsis by Netflix states, “Suspected of heinous crimes, they’ve avoided capture despite massive rewards and global investigations. The Docuseries profiling the world’s most wanted.” The series revolves around five of the most wanted criminals in the world like murderers, Mafia, terrorists, drug lords, etc. who are able to stay free even though their heads have a huge amount of reward, dead or alive. The show falls under the provocative, gritty, and investigative category.

World’s Most Wanted: Cast

There are five dangerous fugitives that are profiled in this documentary series. They are:

  • Samantha Lewthwaite
  • Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada
  • Matteo Messina Denaro
  • Félicien Kabuga
  • Semion Mogilevich

Samantha Lewthwaite

Samantha was born on 5th December 1983 in Banbridge, County Down in Northern Ireland. This 37-year-old fugitive had been badly affected by her parents’ divorce.

She was married to 7/7 London bomber, terrorist Germaine Lindsay in 2002. She is referred to as a “White widow”. This Christian born turned Muslim girl is accused of being a member of the Somalia-based Islamic military group Al-Shabaab and for planning bomb attacks on non-muslim worship places.

Several authorities believe that Samantha has used at least three names to escape justice and one of that is Natalie Webb. Her whereabouts are still a mystery.

Matteo Messina Denaro

Matteo is an Italian mafia gangster. He is accused of having a connection with the murder of more than 50 people. He has been on the hitlist since 1993. He is also accused of the series of automobile bomb attacks that had killed 10 people along with 2 prosecutors. She is considered as “Boss of the bosses” in the Sicilian mob world.

Félicien Kabuga

Kabuga is a Rwandan businessman born in Munig on 19 July 1935. He was arrested for a year for being accused of bankrolling the horrible genocide against the Tutsi in 1994. While this 85 years old was on the run, police said that he used around 28 of his aliases to escape capture. he was finally arrested earlier this year in Paris.

Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada

Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada or simply mayo Zambada is suspected to be a Mexican drug lord. He is the chief of the Sinaloa Cartel, which is one of the world’s strongest drug-trafficking organizations.

He has a bounty of $5 million dollars on his head by the USA and 30 million Mexican Pesos ($1.6 million) as a reward in Mexico. It is believed that he might have done plastic surgery to disguise himself and move freely throughout Mexico.

Semion Mogilevich

Semion Yudkovich Mogilevich was born in Ukraine in 1946. He is a Russian organized crime boss. He is described as the “boss of bosses” of most Russian Mafia syndicates in the world by several authorities agencies.

He is accused of the deaths of 400 people. He has been claimed to be involved in weapons trafficking, drug trafficking, contract murders, prostitution on an international scale, and many more. He has been off the most wanted list since 2015, and despite having several warrants against him, he lives freely in Moscow.
