Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are taking their fans on another ‘excellent’ adventure with the newest edition to the Bill & Ted franchise, Bill & Ted Face the Music. 

The ‘self-proclaimed geniuses’ are once again at the center of a plot to save the universe with their music. The actors are paired with a stellar cast and the trailer of the film alone has gathered more than 22 million views. 

Bill & Ted movies are cult classics but the latest film is also a blockbuster. While the movie is placing its bets on the streaming platforms as theatre releases are limited in 2020. 

Bill & Ted Face the Music Release Date

Bill & Ted Face the Music will be released on August 28, 2020, the date is a week earlier than the original release date. The early release was first revealed by star Alex Winter.   

Reeves first announced the third edition of Bill & Ted back in 2017 on a talk show.

 

Bill & Ted Face the Music Cast

Bill & Ted Face The Music will feature the classic lineup of Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in the lead roles. Reeves is a global superstar who is famous in all corners of the world. In addition to his films, he is also popular as the nicest guy in Hollywood because of his down to earth nature and easy-going vibe.

Keanu has embodied some of the most iconic roles in Hollywood like Neo in The Matrix, Jack Traven in Speed, John Wick in the John Wick film franchise, and of course Bill among many more memorable roles.

Alex Winter is also a fairly popular actor whose most popular film is the Bill & Ted series. Apart from this, he has also written many hit films including The Lost Boys, Freaked, etc. 

He is a proven actor and writer or many theatres productions too, as a matter of fact, he spent many years on theater playing classic roles in various productions. He was a fixture at the prestigious Manhattan Theatre Club.

This time, the eccentric duo have daughters too, Samara Weaving is Ted’s (Reeves’) daughter and the similarities between them are apparent from the very beginning. 

Kristen Schaal is playing a messenger, Kelly, who delivers the message to Reeves and Winter from the future, the character’s name is an ode to George Carlin as Kelly is his daughter’s name.

The late great George Carlin has a posthumous appearance and the studio will be using repurposed footage from the first and second films. 

He was a comedian who was world-renowned for his stand up chops. The first film of Reeves’ and Winter’s franchise that came out in 1989 was the film that helped Carlin achieve international fame. At the time he was already a local star. 

Plot

Bill and Ted are now in their 50s and are dragged down by the happenings of life, they have wives who are angry at them, daughters who are angry at them and the whole world thinks their former adventures are delusions.  

The guitars and the music also make a return when a messenger from the future and tells the lead characters that they must write a song to save the world and humanity as they know it in 78 minutes. 

Instead of getting to writing the song, the duo decides to go to the future when they have already written the song and get it from there.  

The time-traveling shenanigans start from there and they must rescue the world as well as their marriages. Elements from the past also come into the picture. 

Middle-aged problems replace the usual teenage ridicule that the movie originally had.
